Mercer Marsh Benefits announces senior leadership appointments across Pacific

Sydney, 10 September 2021

Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), an employee benefits consultancy and insurance broker and part of Marsh McLennan, today announced a number of leadership appointments across several business areas in the Pacific.

Melbourne-based Katherine Gobbi has been appointed Head of Recovre, a leading Australian occupational rehabilitation provider and part of MMB. Ms. Gobbi joins from EMLife, a life insurance and personal injury claims management business, where she was CEO. In this newly created role, Ms Gobbi will use her leadership experience to deliver expert workplace health, employee rehabilitation, and training solutions for clients.

Blake Gleeson has been appointed Chief Client Officer, MMB, Pacific. Based in Perth, Mr. Gleeson joined MMB in 2019 as MMB Leader, Western Australia. In this newly created role, he will lead the development of strategic solutions to enhance the client experience across the organisation.

Geoff Grace has been appointed Head of Placement, MMB, Asia and Pacific. Based in Melbourne, he joins MMB from Aon where he was Chief Broking Officer, Health Solutions, Asia Pacific, for the past five years. Mr. Grace will oversee MMB’s placement strategy and the development of insurer relationships across MMB’s wide range of industries and product lines.

Sydney-based Ross Pavlis has been appointed Workers’ Compensation Leader, Australia. Mr. Pavlis will lead a team enabling clients to address the increasingly complex and challenging issues in the workers’ compensation market, including the ageing workforce and recent legal and regulatory changes. In a career spaning almost 25 years, Mr. Pavlis has held senior management positions across Australia in NRMA, CGU and Allianz.

Mark Puskaric will return to MMB in the role of Workers’ Compensation Placement Leader, Australia and will be working closely with Mr. Grace and Mr. Pavlis to deliver superior insurance outcomes for Marsh’s workers’ compensation clients. He returns to MMB after three months at Howden Australia.

Steven Cakaric will join MMB in October as the National Client Solutions Director, responsible for working closely with clients to create market leading people risk solutions. Mr. Cakaric joins from 10 years at Aon where he was most recently a Client Director in its People Risk Practice.

All those appointed will report to Sarah Brown, Head of MMB, Pacific.

“When we emerge from the pandemic, businesses will find that they have a significantly altered register for people-related risks and face new challenges and attract and retain top talent,” she said.

“These senior appointments bring together some of the region’s most innovative and creative leaders, all of whom have strong track records in delivering the kind of solutions that enable clients to engage and protect the most valuable asset in any organisation – their people.”
