The first half of 2016 has been an active period for the Australian insurance market as it continues to respond to competitive pressures despite a number of underwriters showing resistance to premium reductions earlier in the year.
While discounting has continued across several insurance classes, there are signs the market has started to toughen in primary directors and officers liability, and stability is returning to the group life market, which has been experiencing hard market conditions for a number of years.
“Brexit” is not expected to have any immediate foreseeable impact on the Australian insurance market, and cyber insurance continues to be a hot topic amongst clients and insurers.
