Emissions Regulations: Concerns for the Marine Industry

New regulations putting in place lower caps on sulphur emissions (SOx) will bring challenges to the marine industry.

Recently, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) announced their commitment to lower the allowed percentage of SOx under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) on January 1, 2020, which shipowners may find difficult to comply with.

Marsh’s latest report, Emissions Regulations: Concerns for the Marine Industry, looks at:

  • The new restrictions coming into effect to further limit SOx.
  • The options the marine industry has to become compliant with the new rules.
  • The ramifications of not complying with the SOx requirement.

To learn more, read our report, which further explains the regulations, and options shipowners should be considering.
