Marsh McLennan receives Lord Mayor of London's Dragon Award for young refugees

Marsh McLennan is delighted to have won the Lord Mayor of London’s Dragon Award for the social impact achieved through Surviving to Thriving ('STT'), a strategic regional initiative developed by British Red Cross ('BRC') and the UK-based Refugee Council to support unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers aged 11-25.

BRC is the largest charity providing support to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and STT is their flagship refugee initiative, focused on empowering young people through increasing understanding of their rights, and providing young refugees and asylum seekers with the skills and practical support to rebuild their lives in the UK.

STT formed part of Marsh McLennan's long-term strategic partnership with BRC from 2014 to 2020 with the aim to build more resilient UK communities through combining skills and expertise in disaster preparedness and emergency response. Since Marsh McLennan became the first of BRC’s corporate partners to invest in STT in 2019, the initiative has provided 194 young people with life-changing support. Over 1,100 Marsh McLennan colleagues volunteered 2,000 hours through their involvement with BRC’s refugee work.

Beneath three pillars of 'prepare, respond and recover', the partnership between Marsh McLennan and BRC supported over 40,000 vulnerable people in the UK, and raised £1.7 million for vital initiatives such as STT.

Marsh McLennan is committed to continually going above and beyond our core purpose to strengthen the communities in which we operate and help society tackle its most pressing challenges. This prestigious award serves as a reminder of the extraordinary impact that can achieved through strategic collaboration with charities like British Red Cross.
