With winter fast approaching, Marsh recommends all businesses consider what actions they should take to reduce the risk of costly losses, business interruptions, and injury to employees and third parties.

Winter conditions tend to bring colder temperatures, which can lead to burst pipes, with the associated damage and business interruption. There is also the potential for melting snow combined with fresh rain falls to overwhelm drainage systems, resulting in local flooding. Employees who drive for work purposes may be faced with difficult driving conditions including flooded roads, fog, ice, and snow. Extra challenges may be faced by employees, contractors, and visitors using buildings and external areas.
