Tell us what you do at Marsh – in 20 words or less   

I lead a team that work with clients located NZ wide  from the SME space with their general insurance requirements,

What is the most exciting part of your job?  

The exciting thing for me is learning new things – there is so much to learn in this industry.  The rewarding thing for me is the variety of people that I deal with, relationships are a fundamental part of insurance and working alongside clients, colleagues and insurers and developing those relationships enables me to keep learning and grow my skills.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Away from work I enjoy the outdoors, walking, biking, hiking around the Mackenzie Country/Mt Cook National Park is both good for the physical and mental health and exploring new places is an added bonus. 

Who is your inspiration?  

There are lots of people who inspire me, like people who overcome adversity, young people who achieve amazing accomplishments through their discipline and focus.  I read “Nothing Venture, Nothing Win” at a very young age so subconsciously Sir Edmund Hillary has been quite inspirational for me (not that I’m a mountain climber).  “it’s not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves” is one of Sir Ed’s quotes that I like.  It comes in handy when you have to dig deep to get through challenging times.

What is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers?

Everyone needs a roadmap to get to their destination so having some short, medium and long term goals is important. Be open to new opportunities, learning new skills and going outside of your comfort zone is where your growth happens.
