Meet Catherine

As a senior client executive and sales producer, I manage client relationships for several large accounts — public entities, publically traded, privately held, and multinational corporations — in our Corporate and Risk Management segments.

I help ensure Marsh builds sustainable, mutually-beneficial business partnerships with and delivers on our day-to-day client service commitment, continually grows our partnerships, and deftly manages market relationships to achieve optimal results for our clients. Additionally, I work with account service teams and subject matter experts to develop services and customized solutions to meet client goals.

My goal is to make sure the full power of Marsh and our Marsh McLennan sister companies is unleashed to proactively address emerging issues facing clients.

Which of our Marsh shared characters - passionate, human, inquisitive, or enterprising - resonates most with you?

Each is important to me, and to choose one, it would be passionate. I'm passionate about and thoroughly enjoy what I do, the phenomenal colleagues we get to work with, and the amazing clients and businesses we get the privilege to partner with and serve!

Like many, I remember hearing at a very young age my parents telling my siblings and me "that whatever we decided to do or become in life, we need to make sure to be the best one at it." They instilled this great value and work ethic taken from a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quote: "If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

Being passionate motivates us to do our jobs well, inspires us to excel, leads us to manage the human aspects, and drives us to be inquisitive and enterprising as we develop solutions and deliver excellence in service to clients. To quote Aristotle, I have found that taking “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”

What excites you about working at Marsh?

Since joining Marsh over 16 years ago, I have been excited about the extraordinary talent and expertise of Marsh colleagues, the spirit of collaboration, teamwork, and support among colleagues and offices, and our firm's ability to lead the industry in developing innovative, creative products, tools, and solutions with thought leadership that speaks to the most pressing challenges and needs faced by our client’s and prospects.

More recently, over the past four to five years, even in a pandemic, it’s wonderful to see the significant strides being made with the accelerated efforts and investments in the areas of diversity and inclusion, ESG, social impact program, and professional development programs, available to colleagues. Sustaining the diversity and inclusion momentum is critical to achieving greater bottom-line results and empowering all colleagues to engage, flourish, and perform at the highest level.

Marsh has further differentiated itself as a firm where a person can have a fulfilling, long-term, successful career, not just a job. In my tenure with Marsh, I've been able to move from only generating new and expanded business to building and managing a book of accounts comprised of recognized brand logos that cross several industry verticals, including public entity, higher education, construction, real estate, retail wholesale, transportation, and manufacturing, to name a few. Throughout, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented, diverse account teams. The possibilities for attaining even higher heights are endless!

What do you do to make others feel included?

I work to be very intentional, keeping a mindset determined to make others feel included – reaching out, welcoming, speaking to, acknowledging, being kind, showing that I value, respect, and appreciate others, and embracing the rich diversity represented at Marsh.

As a co-chair of the Pacific North Partnership Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Committee and co-leader of the West Zone African Heritage Colleague Resource Group (AHCRG), I actively seek ways to raise awareness and connect colleagues through educational, webinar, and cultural events. I believe when we embrace and celebrate differences, it creates an environment where all colleagues feel valued, empowered, and able to perform at optimal levels.
