Underwritten by Liberty Insurance for pet owners in Singapore, PetCare is a pet insurance policy that can cover up to 70% of your vet bills and a range of insured events during the life of the insured pet (up to the policy limit).

Cats and dogs (including kittens and puppies) between the ages of 8 weeks and 9 years and residing with the pet owner in Singapore are eligible for PetCare — no medical examination is required to enrol. Further eligibility requirements are set out below.

Additional benefits of PetCare

PetCare reduces the financial burden on pet owners from veterinary expenses due to illness, injury from accidents, and/or death. The policy also offers these additional benefits*:

  • Wellness package: In the Comprehensive and Comprehensive Wellbeing plan, you can be reimbursed for your pet’s routine health check-ups and vaccinations, as well as dental care (teeth cleaning and polishing), plus spaying or neutering procedures.
  • Compensation for loss due to reported theft: Should you lose your insured pet despite taking preventive measures against unlawful theft, you will be eligible to claim compensation as the policyholder. This benefit is not applicable to cats.
  • Emergency boarding: Pet owner can be reimbursed for pet boarding expenses incurred for their pet at licensed pet boarding facility during hospital stay of the pet owner who is hospitalized for more than four (4) consecutive days due to an accidental injury.
  • Third party liability coverage: Protects the pet owner against his / her legal liability to pay compensation for accidental injury to third parties or accidental loss or damage to property caused by the insured pet.
  • Efficient claims experience: Objective assessment of claims and resolution for peace of mind.

PetCare eligibility criteria

To be eligible for PetCare, the insured pet must meet the following conditions:

  • be microchipped & licensed (Microchip details can be retrieved through the AVS portal. Refer to the FAQs below for details.)
  • be residing regularly in the same premise as the Insured
  • be at least 8 weeks old and not more than 9 years old at the enrolment date 
  • not be a working dog, e.g. guide dog, guard dog
  • not be a dog or cat used for breeding purposes
  • your pet must be an approved dog breed or cat by the relevant local authority in Insured’s usual residential address

PetCare is an insurance product underwritten by Liberty Insurance Pte. Ltd and arranged by Marsh (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

FAQs

Kindly note that below information provides only a brief summary of the product.  For more information, please refer to the policy wordings for the terms and conditions.

Due to unprecedented inflation, costs of pet healthcare is escalating rapidly which may result in under-treatment of your pet due to financial restraints.

Pet Insurance can alleviate the rising cost of veterinary care and provide peace of mind knowing that your pet will receive timely treatment without compromising on quality care due to costly bills.

To be eligible for PetCare, your dog or cat must be:

  • Aged between 8 weeks and 9 years
  • Micro-chipped and licensed
  • Has completed all required vaccinations
  • Not be a working dog. Example: guide dog, guard dog
  • Not be a dog or cat used for breeding purposes
  • Local authority-approved dog breed or cat in your usual residential address

The coverage include:

  • Vet expenses for non-surgical and surgical treatment
  • Final expenses benefit
  • Accidental injury and death
  • Theft – loss due to reported theft (not applicable for cats/kittens)
  • Emergency boarding for Insured’s pet if Insured is hospitalized for more than four (4) consecutive days (subjected to policy’s terms and conditions). 
  • Third-party liability
  • Wellness Cover

We have three plan options for coverage that will suit both you and your pet (including prevailing GST):

  • Essential – SGD410.40
  • Comprehensive – SGD648.00
  • Comprehensive Wellbeing – SGD918.00

PetCare plans do not provide cover for pet(s) with any pre-existing or related conditions.

Including but not limited to the followings:

  • Theft arising from any intentional, neglectful or preventable act
  • Liability arising from any intentional, neglectful or preventable act
  • Pre-existing, Hereditary, Congenital and Skin Conditions
  • Day to daycare, for example, vitamins, supplements, vaccinations, training, grooming
  • Damage to teeth and gums unless as a result of an Accident
  • Illness related to endoparasites or ectoparasites, hip dysplasia, rabies
  • Elective procedures and treatments, for example, nail clipping, tail docking, debarking

PetCare has an annual aggregate limit for claims. More details can be found under our plan types.

  1. Pit Bull, which includes the American Pit Bull Terrier (which is also known as the American Pit Bull and Pit Bull Terrier), American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, and crosses between them and other breeds
  2. Akita
  3. Neapolitan Mastiff
  4. Tosa
  5. Dogo Argentino
  6. Fila Brasileiro
  7. Boerboel
  8. Perro De Presa Canario
  9. Bull Terrier
  10. Doberman Pinscher
  11. Rottweiler
  12. German Shepherd Dog with its related breeds such as the Belgian Shepherd Dog and the East European Shepherd Dog
  13. Mastiffs, including the Bull Mastiff, Cane Corso and Dogue De Bordeaux
  14. Crosses of 1 to 13

The maximum renewal age is 13 years old.

In the event of no claim being made or arising under the policy during a period of insurance specified below immediately preceding the renewal of the policy, the renewal premium will be reduced as follows :

The preceding year - 5% discount 

The preceding two consecutive years - 10% discount

The preceding three consecutive years - 15% discount 

 

Yes, you can cancel the policy by giving Marsh seven (7) days’ written notice and it is subject to cancellation terms in the policy wordings.

  1. Download the PetCare Application Form
  2. Please duly complete the form and email to petcare@marsh.com together with the details of payment transaction for payment by AXS or PayNow
  3. The E-Policy documents will be sent to the email address provided in the application form upon processing and acceptance by Liberty

Please follow these steps to retrieve your pet’s Microchip details:

Step 1: Visit the AVS (Animal & Veterinary Service) Website

Step 2: Login using your SingPass account. (For non-SingPass users, create a new account via the “Request New Account” link). 

Step 3: Scroll to the E-Services tab > “Microchip Number Enquiry” and you would be able to access your pet’s microchip information. This may be displayed along with other relevant details such as your pet’s name and registration information. 

You can make payment via AXS, Credit Card, or PayNow.

  1. Download the PetCare Claim form
  2. Please duly complete the form and email to claims_admin@libertyinsurance.com.sg & copy petcare@marsh.com with the relevant supporting documents:
  • Documentary proof of ownership of insured pet
  • Relevant documents pertaining to the nature of claim
  •  Illness - original vet bills, vet reports, duly completed medical report from attending vet 
  • Accidental injury - original vet bills, vet reports, duly completed medical report from attending vet
  • Accidental death - vet report stating cause and time of death
  • Injury to a third party - original medical invoices, medical reports; doctor's memo stating nature/cause of injury
  • Theft - AVA/SPCA lost & stolen reference number; copy of police report lodged in Singapore

The first portion of any claim for which the Insured is liable. The Deductible is subject to Goods & Services Tax (GST) if applicable.
