Perspective powers progress | January 19-23, 2026

World Economic Forum Meeting

A spirit of dialogue

The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2026 brought together leaders from government, business, civil society, and scientific and cultural communities for genuine dialogue and problem-solving on shared challenges and highlighted the innovations driving our future. A key focus of these discussions was the paradigm shift in technology, from AI and quantum computing to next-generation biotech and energy systems, which are reshaping how we live and work and creating new engines of growth.

This type of perspective is a catalyst that turns uncertainty into possibility and complexity into clarity. Our work across industries, geographies, and markets is grounded in curiosity, collaboration, and deep expertise. By bringing together insights from across our global businesses, we help you see what matters most and transform perspective into meaningful action.

See insights and resources below from our leaders and experts from Marsh and its businesses of Oliver Wyman and Mercer, who provide perspectives and solutions that enable you to thrive and confidently pursue opportunities.

This session explored how businesses can pursue growth amid uncertainty, reshape their workforces, get real value from AI, and find new ways to connect with customers. Specialists from Oliver Wyman Forum and Mercer shared insights uncovered in our 300,000 Human Voices project and our Global Talent Trends study, which capture year-over-year perspectives from CEOs, CHROs, investors, and employees, and explore the future of how people work, lead, shop, invest, and stay well.

Speakers:

John Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer, Marsh

Christian Edelmann, Managing Partner, Head of Europe, Oliver Wyman

Ravin Jesuthasan, Global Leader, Transformation Services, Mercer

Ana Kreacic, Partner and COO, Oliver Wyman Forum

Pat Tomlinson, President and CEO, Mercer

At our exclusive financial services leaders’ lunch, we explored how institutions can seize new opportunities, adapt their risk models, and refine their competitive positioning as the map of global finance is redrawn. Our Oliver Wyman specialists guided conversations on the new financial order that is emerging amid a complex mix of persistent inflation, mercantile policies, and breathtaking technological experimentation. Discussion focused on the productivity promises and potential downside risks of the expansion of AI, as well as the trade derisking strategies being pursued by governments that risk fragmenting capital flows. And, perhaps most notably, they spoke about how boundaries are being challenged — between deposits and stablecoins, public and private markets, and banks and private market players.

Speakers:

Anders Nemeth, Managing Partner, Head of Financial Services, Oliver Wyman

Huw Van Steenis, Vice-Chair, Partner, Oliver Wyman

During this session, our specialists explored insights from new research that can help guide the global investments, talent shifts, and infrastructure development underway, and still needed, to enable the Great Health Productivity Reset. They examined this need for a significant reset across the entire healthcare system, given indicators that global spending could double by 2040, as rising requirements and demographic shifts hit systemic inefficiencies and a constrained clinical workforce. Throughout the discussion, they addressed how to harness the transformative power of AI, humanoid robotics, and system innovation to reset productivity and ensure equitable, high-quality care for all.

Speakers:

Hervé Balzano, President, Health & Benefits and Global Leader at Mercer Marsh Benefits

Oliver Eitelwein, Health and Life Sciences Practice, Oliver Wyman

Gilles Roucolle, Managing Partner, Global Head of Industries, Oliver Wyman

Pat Tomlinson, President and CEO, Mercer

During this session, our specialists, joined by a panel of global institutional investor leaders, discussed what the increasingly blurred lines between public and private markets mean for investors and how evolving megatrends, including AI, shape opportunities and risks within private market investments.

Speakers:

Mick Dempsey, President, Investments & Retirement, Mercer

Niall O’Sullivan, Global Solutions CIO, Mercer

This session explored how blending private, public, and impact capital to build resilient systems can protect workers, thereby securing supply chains, reducing disruption and suffering, and unlocking shared value. Based on this Marsh report and other sources, discussion centered on the workers essential to powering global markets who are often left outside of traditional systems of protection. The conversation then turned to how innovative financing can strengthen workforce health and resilience and address the growing challenges and gaps being faced as a result of rising costs, climate risks, and development funding sources shifts.

Speakers:

Dr. Lorna Friedman, Global Health Transformation, Mercer Marsh Benefits

The financial services landscape is rapidly evolving. The rise of AI promises to revolutionize productivity, yet brings new risks and uncertainties. As these forces reshape the industry, Marsh is uniquely positioned to help banking and financial services companies navigate this new terrain.
