Supporting the Fight Against the Pandemic in a Variety of Ways

08 July 2020

At present, the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading in more than 150 countries and regions. Faced with great needs for humanitarian aid, governments and enterprises all over the world responded swiftly. At the same time, Marsh China continues to put the health and safety of colleagues and their families as our top priority, continuing our pandemic prevention and control efforts and actively participating in local public welfare activities.

Marsh is the world's leading insurance brokerage and risk consulting company with more than 35,000 employees in more than 130 countries. Over the past few months, Marsh China has contributed to the fight against COVID-19 by donating and purchasing materials to help farmers, sending condolences and supporting different social groups.

Affected by the pandemic, a large number of flowers in Yunnan were unsalable, and flower growers suffered heavy financial losses, which was made worse by a sudden heavy snow in Kunming on 24 January. On 8 March, International Women's Day, our internal organization, WE (Women Exchange), helped flower growers through the Flower Project platform. We purchased a batch of flowers for female colleagues in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, contributing to the flower market and flower growers affected by the pandemic.

In addition, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou made targeted donations of anti-pandemic materials to help the elderly, special children and other social groups. Our beneficiaries include Beijing Jingsong Nursing Home, Beijing Dongli Nursing Home, Beijing Tongzhou Majiqiao Nursing Home, Shanghai Heart to Heart Foundation and Guangzhou Nuanjia Public Welfare Promotion Association. We donated a total of 30 buckets of 84 disinfectant, 810 pieces of hand sanitizers, 5,500 disposable medical masks, 50 sets of portable toiletries and 50 boxes of sterilized paper towels.

During the pandemic, we reached out through our internal WeChat group to our employees and forwarded links to buy fruits and vegetables that benefit farmers. Many employees participated in the purchase and contributed to the fight against the pandemic.

Marsh has maintained a presence in China for nearly 40 years and is committed to delivering best practices in risk and insurance services to the world’s most dynamic market.
