Meet Kelsey

I work with clients of public, private, and commercial companies to implement directors and officers insurance as well as other management liability programs. On our FINPRO team, we work to place and advise clients on how to insure their directors and officers liability exposure.

Marsh has a learning culture. Tell us about something new you learned recently. How did you learn it?

I have only been at Marsh for a year, so I am consistently learning every day. One of the biggest things would be the power of a team. Whether it is a presentation to a client, a coverage review, or a crunch-time request, I can learn from senior advisors. This is what makes Marsh such a great environment to work in. Though I need to have the courage to ask the question myself and be willing to learn, I know there is a line of teammates ready to teach me.

How does a hybrid work environment support you in doing your work?

A hybrid work environment helps me to lean into a healthy work-life balance. I can be extremely productive with my time working at home with no commute, so I can prioritize in-person meetings with my colleagues when I come into the office. This makes days in the office fruitful while working at home supports me to have time to exercise and spend more time with loved ones.

Tell us something important about your family or background that helped form the person and colleague you are today.

My parents have been an enormous influence on the person I am today. My dad lived in Puerto Rico, where Spanish was his first language, before being raised in Miami. He then became a first-generation college student playing soccer for the University of Central Florida. He met my mom while in Orlando. At the time they met, she was in her 20s and working her way up to be on the management team at SeaWorld, where she hired and trained every operations and non-exempt staff member. My dad started working as an independent insurance agent after college until he went to FM Global. He then came to Marsh, where he worked as a client executive in Florida for several years. We later moved to Atlanta. My dad still works for Marsh in our property practice.

It has always been incredible to watch my parents keep family first in the midst of exceling at their professional careers; it made all the little moments at home, on the weekends, and during our vacations so much sweeter. My parents have always been intentional about sharing what they do at work and the importance of serving others and being purposeful. I think that intentionality influences my everyday working relationships and drives me to make a difference.

At Marsh, I have the platform to bring purpose to my work with the resources of our colleague resource groups, mentors, and growth opportunities. Having the support to start the Atlanta chapter of Marsh Cares, which is our resource group focused on volunteering, and co-chairing our Atlanta Young Professionals board brings purpose outside of my FINPRO advisory responsibilities. Marsh brings our shared company characteristics to life not just for our clients but also for our colleagues.
