As Region Leader for Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) in the Pacific, Alex Lumby oversees the strategy and operations of the MMB business in Australia and New Zealand. He also sits on both the Marsh Pacific Executive and Mercer Pacific Executive committees.

Highly respected in the industry for his expertise and leadership, Alex has more than 30 years’ experience in insurance and risk management, along with extensive commercial knowledge of supporting clients’ success across the Pacific. His passion for the industry is combined with his commitment to delivering quality services and success for MMB’s clients, communities and colleagues.

Alex moved to Marsh Australia in 2004 from Marsh UK where he held the role of Senior Vice President. From 1995 to 2006 Alex held Senior Vice President roles within Marsh UK, and Marsh Australia. He then took on leadership roles with other insurance firms in the industry, including as Head of Western Region for Aon, Chief Underwriting Officer for Ascot Asia, and Chief Executive and Global Head of Natural Resources for Ascot Renewco in London. 

In 2020, Alex returned to Marsh, through the acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) where he assumed the roles of Chief Client Officer for Marsh Pacific, Head of Growth for Marsh Asia, and Managing Director of MMB Australia.

Alex lives and works in Sydney, Gadigal land.
