Melissa McLellan leads Marsh Risk’s Claims Operations team across New Zealand and Fiji, driving a holistic, solution-focused approach to achieve the best claim outcomes for clients. She oversees claims strategy, operational delivery and engagement with broking teams and insurers across multiple lines of business, ensuring a consistent, high-quality claims experience. She is also a member of the Marsh Risk New Zealand Leadership Team.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Melissa brings deep technical claims expertise and a strong track record in people leadership, process improvement and collaborative stakeholder management. Known for combining technical rigour with a focus on performance and customer outcomes, she has strengthened claims capability and operational effectiveness across the region – helping clients secure timely, fair and effective resolutions.

Melissa joined Marsh as part of the JLT acquisition in 2018 as Senior Claims Advocate, progressed to Team Leader for Australia, and assumed her current New Zealand leadership role in 2022. Prior to Marsh, she held senior claims and leadership positions with major insurers including Guardian National in South Africa, the Territory Insurance Office and Allianz in Australia.
