Developing mindsets for resilience and effective operational risk management. How can businesses embed a mindset that promotes risk awareness and a workforce equipped to handle the turbulence of day-to-day operations? This session will consider the development of mindsets that resist gradual departures from operational processes that can incubate latent risk only discovered in the aftermath of a safety-related event.

The session will discuss how businesses can develop and actively support teams to deliver high-tempo operations while preserving the safety risk assumptions made. We will consider how safety regulations, management systems, and culture come together to drive safety performance to manage risk more effectively.
  • Chris Drew, Director Aviation, Aerospace & Defense, Oliver Wyman CAVOK
  • Dirk Scott, Aviation Operational Advisory Expert, Marsh
Global aviation risk and ESG trends to inform your planning. Marsh specialists have analysed the annual reports for 40 large, listed, aviation organizations - across aerospace and defence, airlines and airports, - over the July 2022 to July 2023 reporting period, considering over 800 risks from companies headquartered in 18 countries.

During this workshop, we will provide an overview of the analysis, and share insights in relation to corporate governance, risk analysis, controls, and ESG approaches.

  • Anna Maria Xenaki, Senior Consultant, Strategic Risk Consulting, Marsh Advisory
Cyber incident management simulation. Your business has fallen victim to a cyber attack – what would you do? If your IT systems were encrypted, would you agree to pay a ransom demand if it meant your paralysed business could get back up and running? Which experts would you contact to assist you?

In this interactive session, our team will portray the roles of several stakeholders during a theoretical cyber attack. Together we will consider the actions to take – and avoid – in a real-life scenario. You will have the opportunity to vote on what decisions the team should make while exploring the pros and cons with insight from our experts.
Navigating macroeconomic risks and fuelling working capital to build business resilience. Rising fuel and hedging costs, geopolitical and war risks, airline non-repossession, and airline and/or travel agent failures over recent years have led many companies operating in the aviation sector to experience diminished revenues, difficulties in collecting payments, and increasing levels of bad debt.

Some companies also face growing competition for a shrinking pool of liquidity from banks and other finance providers. These factors can result in severe working capital shortfalls and a need to maximize liquidity or raise financing to maintain a profitable business.

In this session, our experts will outline how you can secure access to vital working capital and develop your objectives through asset protection, risk financing, and more.

Risk workshops: 11:30am-12:30pm

How will the energy transition impact the aviation industry? Will the aviation industry achieve net zero by 2050? What are the implications for organizations operating across the industry?

This session will provide an understanding of potential decarbonization levers, and the risks and/or opportunities associated with each. From airlines to aerospace manufacturers, Marsh’s sustainability and energy transition experts will consider implications of the energy transition for different stakeholders within the industry and examine the inter-dependencies between segments.
