Mortimer McKechnie

Energy and Power Leader, Africa

Mortimer leads the Energy & Power Practice for Marsh in Africa. Mortimer has 9 years of experience working exclusively with large infrastructure projects in Africa. He previously held roles in the UK looking after UK-domiciled multinational clients, before moving in the Global Energy & Power Practice structuring reinsurance programmes into the London market from across the US, Asia, Middle East, and Africa. He later moved into a Business Development role between London and Africa, before relocating to South Africa in 2023. His time in Africa has been spent building out Marsh’s Energy & Power offering in the region whilst growing a team of dedicated specialist based in Cape Town.
He coordinates international and local teams across both construction and operational projects bringing Marsh’s global expertise and experience to our clients in the region.

Jonathan Cloete

Senior Risk Consultant

Johnathan Cloete is a Senior Consultant in Analytics within IMEA’s Marsh Advanced Risk Solutions division (Africa). He helps large corporate clients throughout Africa and the Middle East identify, quantify and manage multiple types of risks and assist in in developing cost effective and sustainable strategies in mitigating and/or financing these risks. He specializes in statutory and regulatory reporting, reserving, actuarial analysis and scenario analysis, risk modelling and pricing, risk appetite and tolerance assessments, risk advisory services and creating unique and innovative options to assist clients with both insurable and uninsurable risks.

Amol Pinge

Co-Head of Business Development, Gridworks

Amol is Co-Head of Business Development at Gridworks. He has extensive experience in infrastructure investments and asset management in South Asia and Africa. He has previously worked at organisations such as Blackrock, J.P.Morgan, British International Investment, the Blackstone platform Zarou and the Lion’s Head Group across New York, Mumbai and London. His notable achievements include leading the set-up of one of India’s largest wind power platforms, Leap Green Energy, for J.P.Morgan and that of the South Asia renewables platform, Ayana, for British International Investment. Amol holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from V.J.T.I (Mumbai), a Master’s in Engineering Management from Dartmouth College and an MBA with Distinction from Oxford University.

Suzan Pardesi

Head of Energy and Deputy Active Underwriter for ASR syndicate 2454

Suzan Pardesi is a qualified Chemical Engineer with over 24 years of experience across the energy and insurance sectors, including nine years in industry and more than 15 years in insurance as a Risk Engineer and Senior Underwriter.

She has extensive Lloyd’s and Company Market experience, having managed global downstream energy portfolios. Suzan currently serves as Head of Energy Underwriting and Deputy Active Underwriter for ASR, focusing on emerging markets.

She is also an active committee member of the Oil and Petrochemical Risk Association and member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Jared Nivision

Managing Director, ITOO

Jared Nivison completed the IISA Programme in Short-Term Insurance through UISA and is a Licentiate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) by both examination and election.

He began his career at Willis Towers Watson, where he served as an Account Executive responsible for major multinational clients, while also working closely with South Africa’s emerging renewable energy sector.

In 2017, Jared was headhunted to join iTOO Renew Risk to specialise in renewable energy insurance. He currently serves as the company’s Managing Director, having led the business to insure more than 5GW of renewable energy projects, including the largest projects to date in Southern Africa.
