As global cyber threat levels continue to rise due to the current conflict in Ukraine, Marsh’s Cyber professionals are here to help you navigate the current landscape.

How to prepare and lead your business during this time

The following reminders can help you prepare for, and lead, conversations with your key cyber influencers and decision makers.

  • Cybersecurity colleagues should review and follow local advice from ACSC (Australian Cyber Security Centre). ACSC's highly publicised alert urged organisations to "act now" and follow advisory issued on 27 February to improve their cyber security resilience in light of the increased threat environment. 
  • Conduct a tabletop exercise and/or attack simulation with all stakeholders. Rehearsal should be part of your preparation across the enterprise.  
  • Review any potential third-party risk exposure with operations, procurement, and any other applicable colleagues. Confirm all are conducting a level of due diligence commensurate with the increased threat landscape.
  • Inform all leadership, including the c-suite and board, on their roles in maintaining your organisation’s cyber resilience before, during, and after an attack.
  • Avoid enterprise-wide premature speculation about the nature or origin of any attacks you may face. Refrain from taking positions on issues like attribution of attacks unless and/or until necessary. Be cognisant of any time limitation restrictions or limitations in your insurance policies, including notification provisions. Keep careful records of any damage incurred from an attack, and consult with counsel to the extent legal guidance is needed.
