Property transactions in the new world of safety and transparency webinar

Marsh recently held the ‘Property transactions in the new world of safety and transparency’ webinar, in conjunction with Lexology.

Recent building safety and economic crime prevention legislation is causing some concern to practitioners, especially in relation to the niceties of the legislation and the potential liabilities that the new laws create.

In this recently held webinar, chaired by Marsh, in conjunction with Lexology, we discussed:

The Building Safety Act:

  • Sarah McNally, partner at Herbert Smith Freehills spoke about the implications of the Act for developers and owners.
  • Andrew Butler KC of Tanfield Chambers considered the practicalities for practitioners when dealing with high-rise transactions and how to mitigate their risk.

The Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022:

  • Michelle Garlick, partner and MLRO of Weightmans LLP, discussed the implications and risks for practitioners -  including the verification process.
