We understand that the fishing industry carries with it some significant risks. Marsh Ireland provides insurance and risk management services to fish farms, fish processing factories, and fishing vessels of all types, giving us an in-depth understanding of the problems and risk exposures faced by the fishing industry.
We have significant experience in placing risk transfer programmes for these risks, and our experience can support fisheries and fishing companies as they invest in larger and more sophisticated fishing fleet operations or offshore farms.
The result: Whether for offshore or inland operations, we are able to provide you with a specialised broking service that designs and sources important insurance protection.
Fishing Trawlers: Hull and Machinery, Protection and Indemnity
We work with a substantial portion of the Irish fishing fleet, covering the largest pelagic and mid-sized trawlers. Our relationships with specialist insurers enable us to access cover for physical loss of or damage to the hull and machinery, as well as protection and indemnity (P&I) cover for third-party liabilities arising out of the ownership or operating of trawlers. Risks covered include third-party liabilities for crew, passengers, and others, pollution, removal of wreck, towage, damage to or loss of property, collision, and cargo.
We are broker to several aquaculture companies, predominantly based on the west coast of Ireland. Working with a small panel of insurers, we have gained substantial experience in underwriting, risk prevention, and claims handling, which enables us to provide you with in-depth expertise.
Fish Processing: Land-Based Facilities
We are proud to be associated with some of the most modern and largest fish-processing plants in Ireland. We work with insurers who understand the risks associated with the panelling required in cold storage as well as an appreciation for modern processing machinery. We have significant experience in placing risk transfer programmes for these risks and in implementing significant risk management programmes for the land-based facilities.
