What is your role at Marsh?

As Chief Client Officer (CCO) of Marsh Affinity NZ, my role is focused on ensuring that our Affinity team is delivering exceptional service to our clients, building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and identifying opportunities for growth, expansion and seeking efficiencies in the way we carry out business with clients.

I work closely with our Head of Affinity and other executives and teams across the organisation to drive results and ensure we are delivering on our promises to clients.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

The opportunity to work closely with clients and build strong relationships with them.  You get to learn about their business, understand their needs and concerns and provide them with solutions that help them achieve their goals.

Another exciting aspect of my job is the opportunity and privilege to lead and manage a team of professionals who are passionate about providing exceptional client experience.  Being able to mentor and develop your team members, help them grow in their careers and create a positive and supportive work environment is very rewarding.

What is the best career advice you have been given?

When I was in my early 20’s my grandad said “Don’t be afraid to take on new challenges and push yourself outside of your comfort zone.  Be open to new ideas and approaches and always be looking for ways to improve your skills and knowledge.

What is the most important message you want to send to young women thinking about their careers?

Believe in yourselves and your ability.  Don’t let gender stereotypes or societal expectations limit your aspirations and goals.

Pursue your passions and interest and don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things.  Seek out mentors and find a champion who can offer guidance and support.  Keep learning, growing and developing your skills and knowledge.

Most importantly, know that you have the power to create the career you want, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

How do you bring your “whole self to work”?

By being open and honest with my colleagues about who I am as a person, what my values are and what motivates me.  I express my ideas and thoughts openly and encourage my team to express their perspective.  To create a more engaging and inclusive workplace culture, I like to take an active interest in my colleagues at both a professional and personal level.

By bringing my whole self to work, I am able to create deeper connections with my colleagues.
