People Risk Podcast: Managing talent risks

According to the Mercer Marsh Benefits survey, where both the risk and HR professionals across the globe rated the top people-related risks based on their severity and likelihood, on top of the list, right after cybersecurity risks, was talent attraction, retention and engagement.

In our fourth episode of the European MMB People Risk podcast we talk about Managing talent risks and how to maintain the right conduct and culture in a remote working environment, how to ensure that employees are doing the right thing when nobody is watching and many more.

This episode is hosted by Helena Zikova, MMB Growth Enablement Leader, and features special guest Kate Bravery, who is a Partner at Mercer and leads the Global Advisory and Insights team. Her role involves working with Mercer’s thought leadership agenda, including leading our annual Global Talent Trends research, bringing new solutions to market and Knowledge Management.

Key Takeaways:

  • We need to think beyond on-line learning to how we fire up the entire learning culture and infrastructure. If your online courses are not part of the AI model to find those suitable for a job – learning won’t lead to career mobility.
  • The pandemic changed the need and the value of many skills across the workforce. Some, such as direct sales and certain service roles were not needed or threatened. Others, such as inclusive leadership and digital collaboration, came out of the shadows to become much needed capabilities to ensure businesses and teams thrive.
  • “Leave no one behind” is the right way to express the new way of leading people and organisations. We can thank the Covid pandemic for shifting the focus towards people and their skills, but towards their needs as well. This must be helping the companies that are struggling to identify the right talent, as they can cast a wide net while recruiting. This opens new horizons of workforce mobility.
