Meet Juan

I assist clients in the handling and resolution of marine claims, acting as liaison between underwriters and clients.

Marsh has a learning culture. Tell us about something new you learned recently. How did you learn it?

I was very recently able to work out of the Brussels and Antwerp offices and collaborate, share and compare notes with marine claim folks over there, learn about their culture and how clients and expectations are managed. I would love for everyone in the marine team to have the opportunity of working abroad and incorporating those experiences and appreciation for differences into how we work and live.

How does a hybrid work environment support you in doing your work?

Tremendously. I live in a city that has no local Marsh offices and the closest is two hours away. I go into the nearest office twice a month and get to spend time with brokers and client executives, brainstorm issues, and also absorb the big city energy which I miss.

What do you do to create an environment of belonging?

I work remotely, but I am in constant communication with my co-workers. Not a week goes by without communicating with each one of them, often times via videoconference. Part of that is mentoring the junior members of the team, which has allowed me to pass on my knowledge and experiences in the marine business while also learning from them in return.
