Marsh @ FERMA Forum 2026

Rotterdam, October 4-6, 2026

FERMA Forum 2026 brought together industry leaders to explore the risks defining the future of business.

From geopolitics and supply chain disruption to AI and cyber risk, the agenda reflected a landscape where risk is increasingly interconnected and resilience depends on clarity, insight, and decisive action.

This is also the central message of Marsh’s report, Strategy Under Uncertainty: Embedding Risk in Decision-Making, which was presented at FERMA Forum this year. The report explores how organisations can better integrate risk into strategic choices to navigate uncertainty with greater confidence and strengthen decision-making in an increasingly complex environment.

At Marsh, we help clients anticipate what is next. Through deeper risk insight and analytics, we support informed decision-making in an increasingly complex environment.

Over two inspiring days, we also reinforced the importance of strong client partnerships, industry collaboration, and investing in the next generation of talent.

Marsh Workshop: The Accelerating Geopolitical Transition: Managing Risks and Pursuing Opportunities

Speakers:

  • Christopher Coppock, Head of Geopolitical & Economic Risk Analysis, Credit Specialties, Marsh Risk
  • James William Crask, Global Supply Chain Practice Leader, Marsh Risk

Session description:

In an era defined by what has been called a geopolitical “rupture,” a changing world order, and an “accelerating geopolitical transition,” businesses are contending with an exceptional set of geopolitically fuelled risks that require the adoption of strategic foresight and new resilience strategies.

This session will explore the critical geopolitical and macroeconomic trends shaping the global landscape into 2027 and beyond, including inter-state tensions, trade disputes, polarization, and technological decoupling. We will then focus on specific challenges confronting EU businesses from navigating evolving regulatory frameworks and supply-chain vulnerabilities to energy and physical security risks, and upcoming elections.

Attendees will gain actionable insights into how to develop foresight and integrate geopolitical awareness into decision-making and planning processes, to improve mitigation of these risks through robust business resilience and insurance strategies. We will cover practical approaches such as political risk and trade credit insurance to resilience strategies including scenario planning and stress-testing. Additionally, the session will highlight the importance of embedding geopolitical risk governance into various levels of the business to ensure informed decision-making.

Join us to deepen your understanding of the accelerating geopolitical transition and discover how tailored resilience and insurance solutions can empower your organization amid the resulting complexity.

Global Clients, New Demands: discussion with Martin South, Chief Client Officer, Marsh

Speakers:

  • Martin South, Chief Client Officer, Marsh

Session description:

As global clients navigate an increasingly complex risk environment shaped by geopolitics, AI, digital disruption, climate change, and shifting regional policy priorities, the role of the risk manager is evolving.

This session will explore how these forces are reshaping risk financing strategy, and why today’s risk leaders are moving beyond traditional insurance buying to take a more active role in shaping resilience and protection. It will also examine how the market can respond through innovation in coverage, data, service, and capital structure - including the growing importance of captives and other alternative risk solutions.

The discussion will underline the need for stronger collaboration across brokers, insurers, reinsurers, clients, and advisers to build a more connected ecosystem that can meet future client needs.

FERMA Workshop: The AI Risk dichotomy: AI-driven exposures and opportunities for operational resilience

Speakers:

  • Sjaak Schouteren, Cyber Growth Leader Europe, Marsh Risk

 Session Description:

Generative AI is reshaping the risk landscape, creating both significant vulnerabilities and powerful new capabilities for organisations. As reliance on digital “ground truth” erodes, companies are increasingly exposed to risks such as deepfakes, misinformation, and data contamination, already leading to financial and reputational losses across industries. At the same time, these technologies offer transformative opportunities in predictive intelligence, threat detection, and automated compliance.

This 40-minute workshop will explore this dual reality, providing a practical and balanced perspective on both the risks and the opportunities. Participants will gain insight into emerging exposures, from social engineering and synthetic media to internal governance challenges linked to AI misuse. The session will also examine the broader systemic implications, including the growing impact of AI-driven misinformation on markets and business operations.

Building on this, the workshop will highlight how organisations can turn these challenges into strategic advantage. It will explore how risk functions can evolve towards real-time, dynamic risk assessment, leveraging predictive indicators and advanced scenario modelling to strengthen resilience. Finally, it will consider how governance and control frameworks may need to adapt to fully harness AI while maintaining trust, accountability, and effective decision-making.

Designed to be practical and forward-looking, this session will equip participants with key insights to better understand, anticipate, and respond to the rapidly evolving AI risk landscape.

The FERMA Forum Futures Radar: Turning Two Days of Insight into Action

This final session, led by Marsh, will close the 2026 Forum with a collective call to action. This interactive plenary will transform the 2026 FERMA Forum’s two days of insights into a live picture of where risk and insurance managers should focus next. As geopolitical tensions, climate change, AI and systemic threats reshape the business landscape, foresight is no longer optional. Delegates will vote live on the signals, priorities and blind spots that matter most to their organizations. Their choices will instantly shape a purpose-built risk radar, displayed live on stage. The results will spark a dynamic fireside conversation with the founder of Futures Platform and explore how an emerging signal becomes a board-level discussion, a risk-register priority, a strategic decision, and a potential insurance conversation. This is where insight becomes foresight, and foresight becomes action. Delegates will leave with a clear view of what deserves attention now and a practical three-step approach to apply immediately in their daily challenges.
