The UK trade credit market in a post-pandemic recovery

A conversation with Euler Hermes and Dun & Bradstreet in April 2021

2020 brought several challenges to the global economy, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and risks associated with trade, such as insolvency and default, are more significant than ever.

In a conversation with Milo Bogaerts, CEO of Euler Hermes UK and Ireland, we approached the role credit insurance plays in the global economy, how it can support recovery from the pandemic and how insurers reacted to the challenging economic environment in 2020. We discussed the current state of state-backed schemes and what happens next when those schemes come to an end.

In the second part of the video, we talk to Mark Preston, Senior Consultant and Subject Matter Expert on Finance Solutions & External Affairs at Dun & Bradstreet. We discussed the role of commercial credit reference agencies and how their historic modelling based on financial metrics is changing, given the difficult trading environment for the past 12 months and the impact on companies’ balance sheets. Mark also gives us an insight on how the use unstructured data is playing a bigger role in credit assessments.
