The Leader: Independent Schools – Summer 2015
The spring 2015 edition of The Independent Leader looks at the importance of a positive risk culture in an independent school. It identifies why schools that successfully develop a positive risk culture will reap the rewards, and accidents and reputational damage will be less likely.
In addition, we look at the impact the abolition of the paper driving licence may have on how independent schools check an employee’s driving record; we also explain why the summer buildings works that are currently happening at many school campuses across the country attract specific kind of risks and how they need to be managed.
Finally, you will find a Q&A with John Allen, chair of Independent Outdoor (IO). John provides us with an insight into his early career with the circus, the benefits of joining IO, and talks us through the agenda of this year’s national IO conference which takes place on Monday 16 November at Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Sports Centre in North Wales.
