Racism is more than individual prejudice. In addition to daily micro-aggressions suffered by many, it is embedded in everyday structures in the US and around the world, leading to systemic inequities, including in education, employment, housing, health, wealth, and justice.
Today, communities have joined together to say enough is enough and demand change. People of all ethnic backgrounds have joined in solidarity to confront racism around the world. We must take a stand against all forms of racism and this begins with addressing the structural inequities that enable it.
Marsh is first and foremost committed to building an inclusive culture. We operate under the belief that regardless of strategy and innovation if we do not have a culture that supports the diversity we seek, we cannot produce or maintain sustainable impact. When we put our colleagues first, our clients will thrive.
Leading the Change
As a firm, we understand that our success depends on our ability to embrace and advance inclusion and diversity. We recognize that change is not easy. We must overcome historical, perceptual, and cultural barriers to success, and we must do it together.
Our approach to inclusion and diversity focuses on three pillars:
- Driving Deliberate Diversity and Equity.
- Facilitating a Culture of Inclusion and Understanding.
- Enhancing the Colleague Experience.
To execute on our commitment to inclusion and diversity, we:
- Engage our senior leaders.
- Identify targeted recruitment and sourcing.
- Deliver employee and manager education and development for and about diverse constituencies.
- Foster employee engagement through our Colleague Resource Groups.
- Conduct informative internal and external diversity communications and programs.
- Develop strategic external partnerships.
- Promote supplier diversity.
Within Marsh, this commitment is steered by our Diversity & Inclusion Council. Comprised of senior business leaders, this Council is responsible for executing our firm-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives, with support from our Diversity & Inclusion Leader.
Colleague Resource Groups
Colleague Resource Groups (CRGs) are an integral part of Marsh's ability to succeed in achieving inclusion and diversity.
Made up of colleagues who voluntarily work together toward the purpose of helping Marsh achieve its diversity vision, each CRG plays a critical role in improving our firm's culture and environment. Providing unique perspectives from across the organization, each CRG focuses on our abilities to hire, develop, and retain the best talent; work with an increasingly diverse client base; and connect to the increasingly diverse communities in which our colleagues and clients live and work.
Our CRGs currently cross the following communities:
