Meet Baishakhi

I lead the Training Academy for Marsh International, which is part of Marsh McLennan Global Services. The Training Academy provides colleagues with a structured approach to learning solutions related to policy servicing, claims, and fiduciary. As an AVP, I also work with the broader Learning & Development team on training programs and manage the professional insurance certifications for the region.

What excites you about working at Marsh?

Learning and innovation are passionately encouraged at Marsh and recognized as vital to employee engagement. This makes my journey as a trainer very exciting. There are so many opportunities for our colleagues to continually upskill themselves. Training programs are organized on a regular basis, experts are brought in for talks, mentoring is highly encouraged, and self-learning is made accessible through our in-house learning platform that offers top-notch courses.

How has being a mentor, mentee, or both shaped your life and career?

I have been fortunate to have really good mentors in my life and career who shed light on the path I was traversing in the right way at the right time, or who showed me the ropes as I acquired highly technical skills needed to get promoted to a new role. Several of my most pivotal decisions, like switching into a career in insurance, were influenced by my mentor’s guidance.

As someone who specializes in learning, I’m passionate about the positive impact mentoring has on our communities. Our company’s Social Impact program offers various opportunities to volunteer. For example, I volunteered to help with a training program for nursing students located in remote areas. My community service involved building out course content in Hindi, the local language, and delivering several sessions over three weeks.

Experiences likes these have inspired me to be the guide to others, if and when possible. It also helped lead to my career in training and mentoring—work that gives me immense joy and drive.
