Severe weather in Australia peaks from October to April, with higher risks of heatwaves, bushfires, tropical cyclones, severe thunderstorms, and floods.

The upcoming 2024 weather season is influenced by different climate drivers compared to the past three years, including El Niño and positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) events.

In an online discussion, Bureau of Meteorology and Marsh Risk Advisors examine the Australian weather and climate outlook heading into 2024 – and how to manage and mitigate its risks.
