Meet Vilma

I am responsible for analyzing data and creating decision support systems for the Energy and Power Specialty in the Americas. I handle different types of data, such as financial reports and sales reports to create relationships and see patterns using advanced analytics solutions.

Marsh has a learning culture. Tell us about something new you learned recently. How did you learn it?

I learned how to be a better listener through Marsh McLennan's most recent global learning festival, a week-long, quarterly event offering curated 30-minute learning sessions on various topics hosted by internal and external experts. The session set the foundation to learn from my interactions with people, my self-awareness, and recognition of instances when I was not being the best listener. It has been a hands-on experience, and I am still learning to apply the best methods to openly listen to others.

How does a hybrid work environment support you in doing your work?

I am usually in the office three to four times a week, which helps me communicate with others in person and ask questions. On the days I am at home, I can focus on creating content from what I’ve gathered in the office. Hybrid work also helps me be more present in my daughter’s life whenever she needs me home.

Tell us something about your family or background that helped form the person and colleague you are today.

My passion for playing with numbers led me to immerse myself in math-related coursework throughout my school years and developed my love for data and analytics. Six months after starting a client-facing role at Marsh, I was recognized for my analytics skills and promoted to a reporting analyst role. I was tasked with creating solutions for making data use easier for the leadership team. It allowed me to use my inventiveness to create something new, which has taken a manually-intensive process to a more automated form. I've also taught others how to use and visualize data in more appealing and productive ways. Marsh’s learning resources have been instrumental to my success and growth.
