Cyberattacks are no longer a question of if, but when. As AI accelerates the speed and sophistication of attacks, organisations across Asia must work harder to stay ahead of threats and demonstrate a strong risk profile to secure optimal insurance cover.

Many organisations still manage cybersecurity and insurance as separate decisions. Cyber Protect brings them together in a single offering.

Why do you need Cyber Protect now?

Cyber threats in Asia are escalating in frequency, severity, and financial impact. AI is enabling threat actors to identify zero-day vulnerabilities at scale, automate attacks, and evade detection faster than traditional defences can respond. The consequences are clear:

  • Rising breach costs: The average cost of a data breach across Southeast Asia reached US$3.67 million in 2025, up from US$3.23 million in 2024.
  • Insurability is not guaranteed: Even in a soft cyber insurance market, underwriters apply stringent scrutiny to risk profiles. A weak posture can lead to higher retentions, tighter sublimits, or less favourable terms, leaving organisations with significant uninsured losses when incidents occur.
  • Prevention alone is not enough: No security investment can guarantee protection against a breach. Instead, early detection allows organisations to contain incidents before they escalate and limit financial losses.

These risks make the case for an integrated approach — one that actively and continuously improves your risk profile and supports better insurance outcomes.

What does Cyber Protect include?

Cyber Protect brings together two components that are typically purchased separately into one seamless offering.

1) Cyber insurance

Marsh provides expert cyber insurance placement across a panel of leading insurers, with cover individually underwritten and tailored to your organisation’s risk profile. Cyber insurance provides financial protection when incidents occur, helping cover the costs of a cyber event so your organisation can focus on recovery.

What cyber insurance covers
First-party coverage* Third-party coverage*
Business interruption or contingent business interruption Privacy liability
Cyber extortion or ransomware Network security liability
Data restoration Privacy regulatory defence costs
Event management and breach response costs Technology errors and omissions

*Coverage depends on policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and underwriting considerations.

2) 24/7 risk monitoring powered by Resilience ROC

The Risk Operations Centre (ROC), managed by leading cyber risk management provider Resilience, is a 24/7 AI-powered monitoring service that continuously scans your organisation’s external-facing assets for critical vulnerabilities.

  • Insurance-informed threat prioritisation: Unlike generic scanning tools, ROC enriches threat analyses with claims data to prioritise vulnerabilities by their likely financial impact, not just technical severity. This helps your team focus on vulnerabilities that may have the greatest financial impact.
  • Human-validated alerts: AI-enabled scans are reviewed by security analysts before alerts are sent, helping reduce noise and prioritise critical findings.
  • Step-by-step remediation guidance: Each alert includes the affected asset, the identified vulnerability, the potential financial and operational impact if left untreated, and recommended remediation steps so that your team can act quickly.
  • No installation or internal access required: ROC monitors only your external-facing assets without requiring access to your internal network. It complements your existing security controls rather than replacing them.

Based on Resilience data from 2022 to 2024, organisations that remediated ROC-identified critical vulnerabilities experienced 50% fewer losses than those that did not do so.

How Cyber Protect works

  1. Marsh Risk places your cyber insurance through our panel of insurers, with cover individually underwritten based on your organisation’s risk profile.
  2. You receive an invitation from Resilience to nominate the contacts who should receive alerts.
  3. You accept Resilience’s terms and opt in. Monitoring begins with no installation required.
  4. When critical vulnerabilities are detected, your nominated contacts receive analyst-validated alerts with step-by-step remediation guidance, prioritised by likely financial impact.

Case study: More than 164 organisations protected from a live zero-day exploit before they knew they were exposed

When threat actors began exploiting a critical zero-day vulnerability in a VPN service, Resilience’s ROC identified affected clients — including organisations unaware of their exposure — and delivered immediate patching guidance. A subsequent scan identified 164 additional affected organisations, which were contacted and provided with remediation steps within hours.

This incident highlights the value of continuous monitoring in identifying threats and containing them before they escalate into incidents and losses.

FAQs

The ROC is a cyber monitoring service provided by Resilience, a cyber risk management service provider. It combines automated threat intelligence with human analysts to identify risks and deliver targeted remediation guidance. If a client opts in, Resilience contracts directly with them, while Marsh Risk facilitates placement. Your organisation may also choose to add more profile information in the Resilience platform to improve alert accuracy and support ongoing monitoring.

There is no separate charge to your organisation for the monitoring service. It is funded by the insurer as part of a broader offering. There is no additional premium for opting in, and there is no premium refund for choosing not to participate.

Cyber Protect is applicable only at renewal or new signings of Marsh Risk’s cyber insurance offering.

No installation or access to internal systems is required. To begin, the organisation opts in and provides contact details for the people who should receive alerts during risk monitoring such as the IT lead, CISO, or security team.

This service is designed to complement your existing security tools, not replace them. It adds a layer of external threat intelligence that may help surface risks current tools do not detect. No solution can eliminate all cyber incidents, which is why cyber resilience depends on the right combination of technology, people, processes and incident planning.

Marsh Risk shares business contact information with Resilience to enable onboarding. Clients may choose to enrich the solution by providing additional data through the portal, which is processed by Resilience under its own privacy policy. Marsh Risk will not share other client data without explicit consent.

This offering is available across Asia, except for policies underwritten in China.
